Faculty
The current BCB training faculty can be loosely categorized into two categories: “core” faculty who primarily develop computational tools and approaches and “resource” faculty who primarily generate biological data that necessitate sophisticated computational tools for analysis. Although these faculty are neatly divided between the two lists below, this is not intended to be a strict categorization. Some are pure theoreticians, some are pure experimentalists, but most lie somewhere in between. This categorization is useful in describing the two general approaches that complement each other to provide a rich, collaborative research and training environment for graduate students. Both core and resource faculty can be thesis advisors and thesis committee members.
