The Department of Genetics, the Curriculum in Genetics and Molecular Biology (GMB) and the Curriculum in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) held a scientific retreat on Sept. 14-16, 2022, at The Hotel Ballast in Wilmington, NC. This was the first retreat since Fall 2019 and more than 175 faculty, postdocs, students and staff attended.  Almost 25 speakers gave talks across four sessions and more than 75 posters were presented.  Dr. Jenny Ting gave the first annual keynote address, in recognition of her many awards/accomplishments and hugely successful research program.  Dr. Adriana Beltran and John Cornett hosted a session focused on the department’s efforts in diversity, equity and inclusion.  Congratulations to the award recipients listed below and thank you to all who attended and presented.  A big thank you to Cara Marlow, John Cornett, and Dr. Sarah Schoenrock for planning, organizing, and managing the retreat!
