BCB Graduate Student Ronald Futila Kyong-shin (Parr Lab / IDEEL) was awarded a prize for best poster at the Genomic Epidemiology Conference of Malaria (GEM) conference at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in Hinxton, England.

Ronald’s research centers on the population genetics and evolutionary biology of Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite that causes malaria, with a primary focus on the Democratic Republic of the Congo. GEM is the premier conference on malaria genetic epidemiology worldwide.  Poster presentations by trainees and faculty were reviewed by a panel of judges, who selected three posters from a competitive pool for awards.
